SEABEF 2026: Beyond Business Events: Redefining the Future of Events as a Catalyst for Competitive, Sustainable and High-Value Tourism Growth

The Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia invites you to the Southeast Asia Business Event Forum (SEABEF) 2026,an annual regional forum that brings together events’ stakeholders from across Southeast Asia to foster dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.The forum will be held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC).

Under the theme "Beyond Business Events: Redefining the Future of Events as a Catalyst for Competitive, Sustainable, and High-Value Tourism Growth,", SEABEF 2026 will convene policymakers, industry leaders, destination organizations, investors, and event professionals to explore how events can accelerate regional competitiveness, foster sustainable development, and generate long-term economic value

A. Background

The Southeast Asia Business Events Forum (SEABEF) is an annual initiative organized by the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia. Since its launch in 2023, SEABEF has served as a regional platform for Southeast Asian countries to exchange insights, address shared challenges, and explore opportunities in the event industry. The forum plays a strategic role in strengthening ASEAN’s position as a unified and competitive destination, while supporting the post pandemic transformation of the tourism sector.
As the global event industry continues to grow rapidly, SEABEF 2026 is held under the theme “Beyond Business Events: Redefining the Future of Events as a Catalyst for Competitive, Sustainable, and High-Value Tourism Growth” The forum aims to reposition event as key drivers of economic value, sustainability, and innovation, while promoting a more integrated ecosystem that connects policy, investment, industry players, and talent development across the region

To support these objectives, SEABEF 2026 will focus on four key discussion areas:
  1. Regional Policy & Global Positioning Strengthening ASEAN’s competitiveness through policy harmonization, enabling seamless cross border events, and elevating ASEAN as a unified global events destination.
  2. Competitive, Sustainable & Future Ready Destinations Exploring global events trends, including AI driven transformation, and positioning events as economic infrastructure. This includes destination competitiveness, sustainability (green MICE), and leveraging sports and entertainment to build resilient and attractive destinations.
  3. Innovation, Experience & Industry Transformation Redefining event models through next-generation experience design, integration of event technology and GenAI, innovative revenue streams, and stronger partnerships to deliver high-value outcomes.
  4. Talent Development & Strategic Bidding Excellence Strengthening the events workforce through talent pipelines, certification, and cross-border mobility, while enhancing Indonesia’s capacity to win international bids through collaboration, strategic positioning, and delivery of long-term impact.

Through these focus areas, SEABEF 2026 is expected to generate actionable insights, strengthen regional collaboration, and accelerate the development of a competitive, sustainable, and high-value business events ecosystem in Southeast Asia.

B. Objectives

  1. To strengthen regional collaboration and shared understanding among stakeholders in advancing ASEAN’s competitiveness and global positioning in the event industry.
  2. To facilitate strategic partnerships and knowledge exchange on global trends, innovation, and sustainable practices to drive high-value growth.
